May '10 review The early part of the month was spent continuing with a bit of painting and then Gaz was called to one side and told that it had been decided to take the Guppy into the hangar for a complete repaint. It means Gaz and the team won't have anything to work on for a few weeks but when she comes out she will look brand new and the project will be about 2 years ahead of where it is at present. Gaz has also located a from undercarriage leg which will be collected shortly, then there follows the task of installing it! I've also talked to him about what will go inside the aircraft and he would like to have some display boards and so on inside eventually. In a moment of madness I said 'how about a bit of aircraft fuselage?' He thought it was a good idea but the problem is where to find a section - a piece of VC 10 would be nice but the cost may be well beyond the project even if the salvage people would part with it, scrap value being what it is at present. So if anybody out there has a spare piece of aeroplane fuselage going free please let us know The aircratf was open for the Cold War Jets Day on 30th May and photos from the day are available in the gallery section (link at bottom of page) or just click here. That's all for this month, depending on what happens with the re-paint I may not do another update for a couple of months but hopefully there will be a few snippets on the forum in the meantime
