February '10 review Wednesday
10-2-10
It came off without too much persuasion and was in cracking condition inside, no radar, but it had been lovingly removed:
Also, got the nacelles open! And again, they were surprised by the condition of the insides:
It looks like the anti-icing gear and it's in perfect condition on both sides. Although the port side nacelle door will need a bit of work, it jams on something inside, but that's a job for another day. Carried out some housekeeping on the new steps. Gave the levers some WD-40 action and explored all of its features. So, what was going to be a
cleaning day, turned out to be one of the best for a while! 24.02.10 Gregg and Gaz started fibreglassing the radome with a view to borrowing one of the sanders in the hangar on Sunday, to prepare it ready for painting. They also did a bit more work on the steps. Also found a working battery and hooked it up. It worked beautifully, just needed a few replacement bulbs 28.02.10 Not too much to report on today. The fibreglass hadn't gone off properly on the radome so that was a no-go. Changed the broken bulbs on the steps, removed the old battery box (Too small) and attached the new battery, it all works! We then greased the hydraulic rams and put them to bed. Until they were needed for the Comet. A load of people turned up to do a sponsored aircraft pull, so, we let them use our steps. We are also please to announce
that we will be holding an open day for forumeers and facebook friends
at the Cold War Jets open day on Sunday 10th April from 11.30 to 16.00
