the restoration of Super Guppy F-BTGV

 Cold War Jets Open Day

Sunday 30th May Bruntingthorpe airfield

The SuperGuppy was open for visitors (and there were many of them) during the Cold War Jets Day on 30th May, I went armed with camera and did a walk round tour of the aircraft and below is a selection of the photographs, click on the images to enlarge them to full page images and if you then click on the full page image it will zoom up further - on some of the internal ones you will then see what many of the buttons and switches do. (All photos by Andrew Goldsmith except last one by  Matt Evans)

a view of the aircraft from the starboard side

The queue to get on board, there was a steady stream of visitors all day long

Nose on view with the shiny nose courtesy of the rerstoration team's hard work

the nose from the port side, doesn't the new paint stand out well?

the front part of the fuselage (port side)

another fuller view of the port side

on close examination of the fuselage on the port side you can just make out where a larger registration was once painted

this fuselage damage is on the starboard side just behind the rear door

starboard inner engine (or housing anyway)

the foward access door

a couple of views from the inside looking out - the starboard wing and props

and the port wing from further back inside showing the trailing edge

the pilot's office

the electrical panels

front electrical panel - from the label descriptions this one appears to be mainly engine controls

another view of the front electrical panel

and the rearmost electrical panel, looking at the various labels this seems to control most of the general aircraft electricals de-icing and fuel systems

and lastly a reminder from the previous open day www.superguppy.co.uk - the No.1 Super  Guppy website, photo by Matt Evans

many thanks to the people who gave up their time to man the aircraft throughout the day
